Incoming freshmen train all summer for their first taste of college soccer, bright-eyed and hopeful of their four-year career that's about to begin.
But the reality is they don't fully know what awaits until the ball is kicked in preseason, and even then there's an adjustment period. These things take time.
Those challenges have merely been speed-bumps for dozens of first-year players across New England's Division 3 soccer scene. And with six weeks in the bag, they've adjusted to the on- and off-field demands of competing at this level.
