For the first time ever, the University of Vermont men’s soccer team is headed to the Final Four.
The Catamounts clinched a spot in the national semifinals, also known as the College Cup, courtesy of a 2-0 victory over host and second-seeded Pittsburgh on Saturday in the Elite Eight.
Junior forward Max Kissel scored in the 51st minute, and senior forward Yaniv Bazini netted an important insurance goal in the 90th minute to lift UVM to the historic win. First-year goalkeeper Niklas Herceg, who stands 6-foot-6, made nine saves for the clean sheet. It was his third shutout of the NCAA tourney.
