Coming through Oakwood SC’s Development Academy program, Logan Gdula always fancied himself as an attacking player. So it was a natural fit, former coach Kevin Bacher said, when the East Lyme, Conn., native slotted into a false-nine role.
“He was always extremely technical and understood the game,” Bacher said. “The ideas in the attacking third, they came naturally to him.”
But as Gdula’s collegiate career unfolded — one with several twists and turns — he blossomed into a professional prospect at outside back. Now at Wake Forest, Gdula carries a legitimate chance to latch with a Major League Soccer team, where he’d join Michael Parkhurst (Cranston, R.I.), Miles Robinson (Arlington, Mass.) and Wyatt Omsberg (Scarborough, Maine) as local defenders in America’s top flight.
