When the University of Rhode Island knocked off the University of New Hampshire, 1-0, in overtime this past Thursday, it ensured head coach Megan Jessee’s team started 2019 on the front foot.
But the result wasn’t just any non-conference win. It marked the first time the Rams have emerged victorious since Sept. 14, 2017 – a span lasting 708 days.
The Atlantic 10 program went 0-17-1 last fall, as injuries took their toll and they were held off the scoresheet in 10 matches. Frustration settled in, as it would for competitive person. But now there’s a feeling of validation, that all the hard work isn’t for naught.
