New England's presence in the East Conference of United Women’s Soccer has nearly doubled in the past week, with Connecticut Rush and Scorpions SC both announced as expansion teams for the 2021 season.
They join the Connecticut Fusion, New England Mutiny and Worcester Smiles as local UWS teams, increasing the region’s pro-am presence from three to five clubs.
Both clubs are entrenched in New England youth soccer, and now this increases summertime options for college-aged players and those seeking a high standard of competition. A UWS season typically runs from early May through late July, providing a foundation before NCAA teams begin fall preseason.
