Later today, Annie Gnidula (Easton, Conn.) will fly to Poland for the biggest opportunity thus far in her young and rapidly ascending soccer career.
The Class of 2025 forward, who stars for Connecticut FC ECNL National and for the Hopkins School in New Haven, Conn., is heading overseas for the next 11 days to compete with the Polish U-17 Youth National Team.
Gnidula is one of 23 players that were called-in by Polish U-17 Youth National Team manager Marcin Kasprowicz. There will be a training camp, as well as friendlies against Estonia on April 5 and April 8. It will all serve as important preparation for the upcoming UEFA Women’s U-17 Championship, which will take place from May 14-26 in Estonia -- Poland has already qualified for that tournament. Gnidula, a sophomore at the Hopkins School, is playing up an age group.
