The Connecticut FC U-16 Girls ECNL Regional League team enjoyed a very strong showing at the Jefferson Cup girls showcase in Richmond, Va., this past weekend.
The team, coached by Scott McBride, went a perfect 3-0-0 in their three matches, playing in the Superior Orange bracket. The event began last Friday and concluded on Sunday.
CFC earned a 1-0 win over NJ Premier on Friday morning, thanks to a goal from Ava Segalla and solid defending from Nicole Bartlett, Peyton Bashar, Kendall Edwards, Olivia Fuimara, Kaylee Geballe, Kailea Silva and Ellie Stefanowicz to keep a clean sheet. On Saturday, CFC registered a 4-1 win over Fairfax Brave ECNL, with a hat trick from Segalla and a goal from Mia Bratti. The side closed out the weekend on Sunday with a 2-1 victory over NY Surf Elite 64 with solid play from the entire team and goals from Samantha Dube and Bratti. Goalkeeper Alyssa Santa also showed strength in net with several timely saves.
