August 20, 2022, marked my two-year work anniversary as League Director for the New England Premiership (NEP).
As I compose this column, the current state of the NEP is, well, not great.
Our member clubs have left the NEP to join the New England Club Soccer League (NECSL). We have no clubs or teams. While there are varying reasons for each club’s departure, the reality is that the NEP will not have a competitive season this fall.
As the League Director of a league in peril, it certainly falls on me when things don’t go well. I’ve given great thought as to how I might have done things differently to change the current outcome. Just as in the game of soccer, we do not have the ability for a redo. I will not get a chance to go back in time to change anything and must process the current state of affairs and move forward.
