The last few years have brought instability and disorder for Oakwood Soccer Club in Glastonbury, Conn.
One of two Connecticut clubs that offers MLS Next, Oakwood has not only struggled with results on the field. The club underwent a turbulent ownership change in April when National Sports Group bought the club from Rick Derella and Dave Farrell.
The ownership change served as a hard reset. Now, Oakwood is building from the ground up. Adriano Allain, Oakwood’s new technical director, is in charge of the rebuild. He was hired in December after spending the last seven years as the ECNL Director for San Antonio City Soccer Club in Texas.
A new face in the New England soccer scene, Allain has spent the last two months adjusting to Connecticut winters, but more importantly, implementing his vision for the new era of Oakwood soccer, which also offers girls’ academy.
