Now in its fifth year of operation, New England Surf, founded and led by COO Tommaso Trevisan, continues to expand in the local club scene.
Trevisan hopes 2025 brings more growth for the Newton-based club.
NE Surf’s top priority for this year is on the coaching side. The goal is for every Surf coach to achieve a Project D coaching license or higher. This license is for coaches who work with players from the U-6 to the U-12 level. It helps coaches improve their training, performance and leadership skills.
Currently, 38 Surf coaches have a D license or higher, while 22 coaches are ready to take their D license this summer through a program with the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association. Nine coaches are still in the grassroots program and need at least one more requirement to take the D license test.
Since education is one of Surf's main pillars, the D license provides a pivotal step toward educating coaches, parents and players. The Surf is also covering the financial cost of the D license program, which is around $500.
