In the soccer world, the term “Big Six” most commonly refers to the Premier League’s top tier, a collection of clubs that lead England's first division in transfers, on-field results and more.
It’s a nod to the Liverpools and Chelseas of the world, teams that you expect to compete for the UEFA Champions League and other silverware on a consistent basis.
While on a different scale, the phrase can also apply to the current crop of seniors on the Champlain Valley Union (Vt.) girls varsity team. The half-dozen Class of 2021 standouts, with three regular-season games left in their abbreviated final high school season, are on the verge of never losing a game.
