Over the past five years, Oakwood has a strong track record of producing some of New England’s top youth players.
Now a senior at Providence College, midfielder Danny Griffin (Wethersfield, Conn.) spent time with the U.S. U-19 national team. Simon Becher (Brooklyn, Conn.), a sophomore at Saint Louis, is a former U.S. U-20 national team forward. There’s also Coastal Carolina junior midfielder Michael Boakye (East Hartford, Conn.), who’s a one-time U.S. U-18 national teamer.
Their résumés all are impressive, but Development Academy coach Kevin Bacher is confident that 14-year-old midfielder Pearse O’Brien (West Hartford, Conn.) will surpass them all.
