There are five Development Academy clubs that call New England home, but players from the region certainly aren't limited to those teams.
In fact, a slew of high-end players venture to residency programs outside of the region or take advantage of the nearly dozen DA clubs in the New York metropolitan area.
And with the recently-completed Winter Showcase beckoning a brief winter break, it offers a chance to reflect on local standouts from outside the region.
The below eight players all have hometowns in New England, and most suit up for for Major League Soccer academies. Only one plays for a non-MLS club, but is enrolled at a full-time residency program.
