When Forrest Shimazu (Needham, Mass.) began the college recruiting process, he originally had a different destination in mind.
Warmer weather, longer outdoor seasons and the beach all sounded pretty grand.
But as matters evolved, the whole "head south" idea didn't pan out. Shimazu, a defender for the Boston Bolts U-19 Development Academy team, is bound for Brandeis University, traditionally one of New England's top Division 3 programs.
"The program has had so much success, so it's really exciting to be a part of that next year," Shimazu, 18, said.
