Peder Bakken is beginning his final season as a midfielder and captain for the Bates College men’s soccer team, but he already knows how he wants 2019 to end.
“I want this team to have the best season Bates has ever had, especially in the NESCAC,” the Phillips Andover graduate said. “That’s where I want us to be successful.”
Since the NESCAC began a postseason tournament in 2000 (with seven teams qualifying, a number that has since grown to eight), Bates has missed in 12 of 19 years. The program from Lewiston, Maine has won just one tournament game (a quarterfinal over Wesleyan in 2006).
