Three New England natives are heading to this summer’s Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games with the U.S. women’s national team.
Goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher (Stratford, Conn.) and midfielders Kristie Mewis (Hanson, Mass.) and Sam Mewis (Hanson, Mass.) made the USWNT’s 18-player roster, it was announced Wednesday morning.
Head coach Vlatko Andonovski has also named four alternates, though Harvard alumna Midge Purce didn’t make the final cut. Purce can play outside back or forward.
