The World Cup is returning to Boston/Foxborough.
That major news was announced on Thursday, as FIFA unveiled the 16 host cities/venues for the 2026 World Cup in North America.
Not surprisingly, Boston/Foxborough was one of the choices for the world’s most popular sporting event. It was joined by Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Francisco/Bay Area, Seattle, Toronto, Vancouver, Guadalajara, Mexico City and Monterrey.
It will be the first World Cup hosted by three nations and will be the first that will be expanded to 48 teams.
