As the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup heads to the Round of 16, beginning on Saturday, numerous fun storylines have emerged in Australia and New Zealand.
Perhaps the best is the success of the Jamaican National Team, also known as the "Reggae Girlz."
Jamaica became the first Caribbean nation to reach the knockout phase of the Women’s World Cup by tying perennially strong Brazil, 0-0, on Wednesday in the final game of the Group stage for both teams. With five points, Jamaica moved on, along with France (seven points), from Group F and into the Round of 16. Brazil’s tournament, meanwhile, came to a close.
