They were known, collectively, upon their arrival to Williams College more than three years ago, as "the dysfunctional class."
Part of it was the backhanded compliment that all new freshmen receive from the older players. But it also was a recognition that these first-years, with their varied interests and social groups, did not make up a typical incoming class.
"The thing is, our class is comprised very much of individuals," said senior midfielder Jacqueline Simeone (Boston, Mass.). "We came in and we got along and were good friends, but we had people that would hang out with their entry (dorm) friends and things like that.
"I was involved in a lot of theater stuff. It was kind of seen as dysfunction, I guess, because we weren’t really following the trend of a typical freshman class, doing everything together."
