The Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) footprint in New England is expanding, with VT Fusion launching for the Summer 2021 season.
VT Fusion will play at Applejack Stadium in Manchester, Vt., joining the Rhode Island Rogues as WPSL teams in the region. A league spokesperson told New England Soccer Journal that they’re considering additional expansion opportunities in the region.
VT Fusion has Castleton University ties, with men’s head coach John O'Connor acting as manager in year No. 1. Chris Chapdelaine, head coach of the Spartans’ women’s team, is acting as general manager of what’s essentially a U-23 team.
