Western Mass Pioneers forward Patrick Agyemang has played in plenty of big games throughout his career. Yet taking part in the USL League Two’s national semifinals in Georgia last weekend was an experience unlike any other for the URI senior.
“I’ve really never been in an environment where it seemed so professional, especially making it that far,” Agyemang said. “It was a blessing, I think it made us all realize that we really worked hard to get there, and we just tried to give it our all.”
Agyemang and the Pioneers (13-3-2) shut out West Chester United SC on Saturday to earn a 1-0 win and clinch the league’s Eastern Conference championship. The team’s season would end two days later with a 3-1 loss to North Carolina Fusion in the semifinal round.
