As women’s college programs reload and prepare for the 2024 season, the transfer portal provides one avenue for roster growth.
By adding transfers, programs are able to find proven players, who bring experience and other intangibles that incoming freshmen can’t yet provide, because they haven’t been at that level yet.
Players opt to transfer for various reasons. Maybe it’s a career reboot, maybe it was a coaching change at their previous school, or maybe it’s a decision based on academic interests. The COVID-19 pandemic has also provided some college players with an extra year of eligibility.
To keep track of who’s going where across women’s soccer in the region, New England Soccer Journal has its transfer tracker for the 2024 season.
