It was on Feb. 12 when 15-year-old Teagan Forde got the call from across the Atlantic Ocean that she had been hoping for after so many trips to Ireland to visit grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins while growing up.
For the Tabor Academy and South Shore Select player from Yarmouthport, this was not only a call to the Emerald Isle, but also a call to play for her family’s home country as a member of The Republic of Ireland’s U-16 National team.
Within a couple of weeks, she was on a plane to Dublin for a day of training, and then onto Valencia, Spain along with the rest of her adopted team for a pair of international games against Switzerland. Forde played the second half of the first game, a 2-1 victory, before playing the entirety of a 1-1 draw in the second match in early-March.
