All of the conjecture and all of the energy transitions from hypothetical to possible once the secondary transfer window — better known as the summer transfer window (July 10-Aug. 9) — opens. It is a furious few weeks as MLS teams jostle for position and try to strengthen their squads for the stretch run.
Sometimes, the best plans for the frenzy unfold months before the window opens. Take, for instance, the arrival of Revolution midfielder Xavier Kouassi last season.
Kouassi entered the last six months of his previous deal with Swiss club FC Sion at the turn of last year. As the captain and linchpin of a side playing in European competition, the energetic midfielder garnered attention from several clubs across Europe and one team in the United States.
