When the 2018-19 season neared for Scorpions SC, it represented a new direction – both on and off the field.
The club, founded around 2000 by Fred Marks, was to be co-led by new directors in Nick Rugnetta and Evan Burokas. They’d still have National Premier League (NPL) and Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) teams, though things would be different.
“It's not a new era, but a strong new direction,” said Rugnetta, also the girls soccer coach at Thayer Academy, with Burokas also an assistant at Merrimack. “There have been a lot of changes over the past year and more over the coming years."
