On a normal Wednesday as part of VfB Lübeck, Ryan Malone (Chicopee, Mass.) would be turning his focus to that weekend’s Regionalliga Nord opponent.
The defender/midfielder, whose team is in first place and chasing promotion to Germany’s third division, would then return home to see his wife, Kate, who’s expecting their first child in April.
But these aren’t normal times for the former Springfield College star and Division 3 All-New England selection, not as the COVID-19 pandemic stretches across Europe. Their season is currently postponed through the end of April.
