This past weekend, Columbus Crew SC held the inaugural Spring College League championship, as Ohio State downed Bowling Green, 3-2, for the title.
The league, with eight Division 1 programs from the Midwest, brought together some of that region’s top talent for five weeks of competition. Final matches were held at Fortress Obetz, the longtime training facility for the Crew’s academy program and first team.
Now, what if a similar concept was brought to New England?
That’s surely something that soccer fans throughout the region could get behind, and there’s every reason for the Revolution to spearhead something similar to the Crew's model.
