The last winning season for the Trinity College men’s soccer team was in 2014.
But with the hiring of new head coach Methembe Ndlovu, there is optimism and excitement surrounding the program. That enthusiasm for the future is a primary reason that Milton Academy and Boston Bolts Class of 2022 defender/midfielder Finn Hackett (Ipswich, Mass.) is looking forward to bringing his talents to the Bantams.
Hackett has already committed to Trinity, choosing the school over other NESCAC programs that were also recruiting him.
"Coming into my recruiting process, there were a lot of NESCACs, and a lot of them are similar schools. During part of my recruiting process (Trinity) was still looking for a head coach. All the NESCAC schools are really strong soccer programs and it’s a really strong league, and I saw a (Trinity) program that had a lot of promise and a rebuild on the horizon," said Hackett. "So, for me, seeing a new coach coming in and a rebuild for a really good academic school, as well as a school that is close to home, was important. For me, as a freshman coming in, it’s a chance to come into the preseason with no favorites and no set system, that’s a chance for me to get playing time right off the bat and hit it off with the coach and understand what he wants, and then mold my playing style."
