Amir Yahalom (Brookline, Mass.) considered other schools, but there was always one that stood out.
"I was confident that where I wanted to finish up my recruiting process was Columbia, that was my first choice, so no matter what else happened, if Columbia offered me, I was going to take it," Yahalom said.
As it turned out, New York City’s Ivy League college did offer Yahalom, a defensive midfielder who plays with the Boston Bolts. Yahalom graduated from Brookline High this past spring, but he’s taking a gap year with The ProProject, where he’ll train with some of the best players and coaches in the area and take online classes with the program’s Center of Excellence.
