Trophies aren’t won on the recruiting trails, but Harvard women’s soccer is undoubtedly moving in an encouraging direction with the players that head coach Chris Hamblin and his staff (namely assistant coach Mark McDevitt and associate head coach/recruiting coordinator Mike Calise) have brought to Cambridge in back-to-back classes.
The Crimson announced its Class of 2021 earlier this week, and it carries a distinct international flavor with Canada national team defender Jade Rose, Denmark national team midfielder Josefine Hasbo and Iceland national team midfielders/defenders Hildur Hakonardottir and Aslaug Gunnlaugsdottir among the highlights.
This follows a highly-touted Class of 2020, which was anchored by three U.S. youth national team standouts: defender Smith Hunter, midfielder Hannah Bebar and forward Ainsley Ahmadian. It also included Canada youth national team goalkeeper Anna Karpenko and Trinidad and Tobago national team forward Cayla McFarlane.
