It’s been quite a week for Class of 2021 midfielder Autumn Smith (Westport, Conn.), earning United Soccer Coaches All-American honors and now committing to Marist College.
An offer from the MAAC program ends a two-year recruiting process for the Staples High School and Connecticut FC ECNL standout, who bore the brunt of the Division I recruiting dead period.
While other options presented themselves during the COVID-19 pandemic, none quite reached the finish line until conversations with Marist began three weeks ago. Head coach Brittany Kolmel, a two-time All-American and Big East Defender of the Year while playing at UConn from 2005-09, is new to the Red Foxes and looking to add quality players.
