You could tell Shelby Hogan was a special player just five games into her collegiate career.
After redshirting as a freshman, Hogan (Franklin, Mass.) started the 2017 season in net for Providence. She played well in those first four games, but Hogan really shined in a road contest against Big Ten champion Minnesota, making eight saves in a 1-0 overtime defeat.
Though it wasn’t her first game for the Friars, Hogan knew she belonged when she played well against the Gophers.
“Right from the start, you can’t take a backseat, you got to go out there with some confidence,” Hogan said. “Going into that game and playing with some confidence, and then throughout the game continuing to grow off that. That’s what helped me going into the Big East because I played in that kind of big game.”
