Project GOAL is currently celebrating its 15th year of making a profound impact on children's lives through soccer and education.
Those efforts, centered around Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts, recently received a sizable boost. For the eighth time, the non-profit organization has received a grant from the FIFA Foundation.
Project GOAL is one of four American non-profits to receive funding this year, and one that works extensively with players in New England. In all, 93 projects throughout the world received funds from the FIFA Foundation, including a non-profit world soccer star Samuel Eto’o runs in his native Cameroon.
"We're not a program trying to develop the next professional soccer player," Project GOAL director Darius Shirzadi said.
