When Oakwood began the 2019-20 Development Academy season, the club from Glastonbury, Conn., had several goals in mind.
Consider one of them accomplished, as their U-19s have won their DA Cup group, booking one of 32 spots for the Winter Cup. The event, which includes eight four-team groups, will be held from Dec. 4-8 alongside the traditional Winter Showcase event in Bradenton, Fla.
To top their group, Oakwood beat local rival Beachside, 5-0, behind braces from both Ronan Dillow (Georgetown commit) and Evan Schweickert (American commit). Mick Sipples (Middletown, Conn.) posted the shutout at goalkeeper.
