The contingent of United Kingdom-based players from New England is small, though their impact is certainly large.
Former Berkshire School star Jack Harrison is enjoying his second season on loan at Championship side Leeds United, having scored five goals and handed out four assists across 50 matches. Harrison, 22, is under contract with Manchester City and will be looking to help Marcelo Bielsa’s team get promoted after they lost in the playoff semifinal to Derby County last year. Leeds are currently in third place.
Another local in the Championship is Queens Park Rangers defender/midfielder Geoff Cameron (Attleboro, Mass.). The former U.S. men’s national team player has been in and out of the lineup and appeared in 23 games over the last season-plus. Cameron, 34, is enjoying his eighth season overseas after spending the first six with Stoke City. Locally, Cameron played club soccer for Bayside FC and in college for URI before getting drafted by the Houston Dynamo into MLS. QPR are currently in eighth place.
