When Nicolas Firmino (Somerville, Mass.) progressed through the New England Revolution Academy, before he signed a Homegrown Player deal in November 2018, his leadership qualities shined bright.
It should come as no surprise, therefore, that Firmino seeks a similar role during the inaugural Revolution II season in USL League One. A first-team midfielder playing down on a team ripe with Academy players looking to follow in his footsteps, the 19-year-old embraces this responsibility.
The fact that Firmino has two goals and one assist, trailing just center back Jonathan Bell for the minutes-played lead, is all a bonus.
