Nicolas Firmino (Somerville, Mass.) cushions the ball with his chest and rifles it towards goal. Standing outside the box, his effort ricochets off the left post, bouncing into the back of the net.
He runs to the corner with his teammates, celebrating the equalizing goal against Greenville Triumph SC on May 16. It may very well end up being the USL League One goal of the season.
Firmino, 20, is off to a quick start with Union Omaha, the second stop in the midfielder’s early professional career. After spending seven years with the New England Revolution organization, Firmino has donned new colors, signing with Omaha in April after the Revolution parted ways with him last December.
