DEERFIELD, Mass. — With his team ahead by two goals and time dwindling down Sunday, Miss Porter’s coach Avi Dubnov could let one word keep passing through his thoughts:
“Finally.”
Second-seeded Miss Porter’s is a NEPSAC bridesmaid no longer. In the team’s third trip to the Class A championship game in the past six seasons, it was a winner, scoring two goals after halftime to best Founders League rival Westminster, 2-0.
