DEERFIELD, Mass. -- They concluded a nearly perfect season by playing a nearly perfect game.
The girls on the soccer team at top-seeded Buckingham Browne and Nichols have been controlling opponents all fall, conceding a minuscule two goals in the 20 games they’ve played.
The trend continued in Sunday’s Class A championship game against second-seeded Worcester Academy, with seniors Sam Suplee scoring a pair of goals, and Lila Sullivan, Frankie Valverde and Meredith McDermott also tallying in a comfortably thorough 5-0 win at Deerfield Academy that capped an unbeaten 20-0 season.
“This was the finish that we needed,” said senior center midfielder Molly Martin. “It’s been a long time in the making. Worcester’s a great team; they played us tough. I think we just put our team first; we’ve always done that since our freshman year.”
