For the first time in three editions, a team has graduated from the open tournament bubble in our NEPSAC boys postseason forecast.
That’s Brooks, which — with a pair of wins over quality ISL opponents in Belmont Hill and Lawrence Academy — bolstered its resume this past week. Matt Carroll’s team now has an impressive stack of quality wins to show the open tournament committee.
That separates Brooks from the bubble, where several teams are still relying on draws against top teams to prove they deserve a spot in the eight-team open tournament field. Accordingly, in our hypothetical forecast, the Brooksians would be an open team if the season ended today.
The season doesn’t, of course. A plethora of critical games remain over the final two weeks of the NEPSAC season, starting on a raucous Halloween slate that includes five matchups between two teams included somewhere in our latest forecast.
