All great athletes must be adaptable. Able to roll with the ebbs and flows of each game, never losing composure.
But for Beaver Country Day School center defensive midfielder Sam Martin (Westwood, Mass.), the story of his adaptability looks somewhat different.
For much of his young playing career, Martin was a goalkeeper, competing for some of the most prestigious soccer academies in New England, namely the Valeo Development Academy (2016-2017) and Revolution Academy (2017-2019). For several reasons, including injury and illness, Martin stepped away from his netminder duties and took to the field.
