Hardly any time has passed since Neil Roberts (Braintree, Mass.) retired as head coach of the Boston University men’s soccer team, and he already knows this new pace will take some getting used to.
Roberts, after a 40-year career that included 35 at the helm of the Terriers, grew accustomed to the demands of the job. But over the past year-plus, Roberts debated whether it was time to call it quits and move onto life’s next chapter. Even having those thoughts, he said, was quite telling.
That’s why when Monday’s announcement surfaced – that Roberts would be retiring with a 367-218-93 career record in tow – he felt at peace with his decision.
