When you’ve been called into five straight United States Youth National Team training camps, you tend to get acclimated to the process and gain a firm understanding of what the experience is like.
That’s the case for NEFC forward Nicollette Kiorpes (Worcester, Mass.), who earlier this month was one of 26 players invited to participate in the U.S. U-17 training camp at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. She was one of just two New England players at the camp, with FC Stars midfielder Lydia LeBlanc (Winchendon, Mass.) being the other.
"I know all the girls there now, so just going there is more comfortable every time," said Kiorpes. "Obviously, in those first few ones, I didn’t know anyone and was flying all over the country. In these past few ones, I’ve made very close friends. I look forward to it because I get to play with them and it’s great competing with them."
The Class of 2023 striker, who is a junior at Doherty Memorial High School (Worcester, Mass.), committed to Penn State last Oct. 1. She had also been considering Boston College, Harvard and Princeton.
