While most grew accustomed to spotting Boston Breakers jerseys in NWSL play, the kits arguably were more present on youth soccer fields across New England.
The main reason? A partnership with New England Futbol Club (NEFC) that’s now murky with the longest-running professional women’s soccer team ceasing operations ahead of the 2018 season.
Since 2016, the Breakers and NEFC had partnered, with the youth teams wearing the pro jerseys in games, including the ECNL in 2016-17 and first year of the girls’ Development Academy in 2017-18. Jason Braga, vice president of NEFC, said it’s unclear how the club’s girls side will be branded down the road, though they’ll remain in the DA regardless come the 2018-19 season.
