When it comes to St. Joseph’s (Maine) College teammates Rory Twomey and Blake Mullen, their relationship can be measured in more than just years.
It can be measured in inches.
Today, the two are senior leaders on an undefeated soccer team that’s adding to its résumé every week, its 10-0 record elevating it to No. 9 in one national ranking. Twomey, a bedrock defensive midfielder, and Mullen, a 6-foot-8 standout goalie, are two reasons the Monks have conceded just one goal all season.
But go back seven years, to their freshman season at East Catholic High School (Manchester, Conn.), and there was a lot of room for … well, growth.
