The 2021-22 MLS NEXT regular season wrapped up last weekend, and a pair of New England Revolution Academy squads are headed to the 2022 MLS NEXT Cup playoffs.
The Revolution Academy U-19s closed out the regular season by defeating Seacoast United, 2-1, on Sunday to secure their place in the playoffs. Hikaru Fujiwara (Lexington, Mass.) and Wake Forest commit Malcolm Fry (Groton, Mass.) each scored to lift the U-19s to victory, while Vermont commit and goalkeeper Max Weinstein (Montpelier, Vt.) stood strong in net.
The U-19s own a record of 5-1-5 and qualified for the playoffs via MLS NEXT league play.
The U-19s will be joined at the playoffs in Frisco, Texas by the Revolution Academy U-15s, who own a record of 9-7-1 and qualified for the playoffs via last month’s MLS NEXT Flex event. The Revolution Academy U-15s cruised through their group at the Flex tournament, recording two wins and a tie.
