The UConn-to-Major League Soccer pipeline has been strong in recent years.
Andre Blake, the No. 1 overall pick in 2014, stars at goalkeeper for the Philadelphia Union. Cyle Larin, a No. 1 pick himself in 2015, tore it up at forward with Orlando City before leaving for Turkish club Beşiktaş. Jake Nerwinski, a right back, has emerged as a starter for the Vancouver Whitecaps, after being picked No. 7 overall in 2017.
While a bonafide star likely isn't around in 2019, the Huskies' presence should be strong yet again. After all, 37 alums have been selected throughout the history of MLS.
At the Combine – held Jan. 3-9 in Orlando, Fla. – three UConn players were part the 60 initial invitees. Outside back Dylan Greenberg, center back Jacob Hauser-Ramsey and forward Abdou Mbacke Thiam were all picked ahead of the 2019 SuperDraft, held. Jan. 11 in Chicago, Ill.
