After three wild weeks of stunning upsets and golden goals, the MIAA boys’ soccer season reached its climax this weekend when the five state champions were crowned.
In Division 1, Natick capped its late-season surge by defeating No. 1 St. John’s Prep on a 72nd-minute goal from Cole Boggis. West Springfield finished off a remarkable postseason run in Division 2, recording its fifth consecutive shutout in a 3-0 triumph over Duxbury.
No. 2 Norwell made it three state titles in five years in Division 3, while Bromfield nabbed the program’s state-leading 14th title in Division 4. To cap it off, Boston International made history in Division 5 by becoming the first Boston public school to win a boys’ soccer state title.
Although I only finished 3-for-5 in my state championship predictions, shoutout to Pat Donnelly for going 5-for-5 on the girls' side; the state tournament delivered as always.
