WINDSOR, Conn. – On the sideline, it’s a common sight at any prep school game in New England: parents, some sporting their school’s hat or apparel, rooting on their son. Maybe a few choice words for the referee or glances at their phones.
But on this particular Sunday at Loomis Chaffee, they’re joined by another group. Dozens of spectators, mostly men anywhere from their early 20s to early 60s, are watching with a binder in their lap and pen in their hand. Most are sitting in a foldable chair, gathered in clusters, rekindling old friendships and fighting off the beating sun.
This is a business trip, because the seventh annual Northeast Soccer Jamboree is here. They’re some of the nearly 150 college coaches who have flown out or driven to observe some of the best NEPSAC soccer has to offer.
