As the autumn quarter neared its end at the University of Chicago, Lyndon Hu (Maynard, Mass.) planned to return home for the first time since preseason began in August.
The four months away from home were certainly worth it.
Hu is now a national champion, helping the undefeated Maroons (22-0-1) win the Division 3 men’s soccer NCAA Tournament title. On Dec. 3, they beat NESCAC side Williams, 2-0, to cap a historic year.
"I'd take that trade-off any day," Hu joked, connecting with New England Soccer Journal after that fateful afternoon in Salem, Va.
